Lost my best friend

What if the strain on ones heart directly correlates to the time we are alive. What if every heart ache forms scar tissue inside that beating organ. Your atriums fill with the blood you lose as your heart starts to tear, chambers fill as the fluid that once rushed through your life streams suddenly start drowning you from within.
I held you as you slipped away, felt your head grew heavy in my arms, I said your name one last time, maybe to call you back maybe to ease the way, but then in a moment all life seized to exist. Go be at peace, I’m sorry this was the end, I’m less of a man with you gone.
